I am Taryn Okesson a visual artist from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
This is where you can subscribe to my monthly Substack Newsletter. I send it off once a month. It includes updates about my art, where you can find it and in-person events you can catch me with my art. I also like to give art related book recommendations and musings. Recently, I added answers to frequently asked questions about art/supplies/materials.
I also put out essays & photo essays in my Artist Journal section. Almost anything is on the table here. If I think about it long enough, I may start writing about it.
Almost everything is free. Archived posts and a Quarterly Studio Newsletter are available as small expressions of gratitude to paid subscribers. (At time of this edit I’m still working on this new feature).
There is no need to become a paid subscriber (unless you want to). The monetary support helps me grow as an artist entrepreneur. This year I upgraded my website service.

I promise to never turn my Newsletter or Artist Journal into an uncomfortable sales pitch. Yes, my art is for sale and I will probably tell you about it from time to time. But I’m not a marketer. Or a sales guru. And I, as much as anyone, do not like my email being bombarded with junk. My goal is to build a relationship with you. I hope you look forward to opening an email from me and maybe leaving a comment.
